What happens when I report a post, List, or Direct Message?

  • The original content of reported posts will be replaced with a notice stating that you reported it. Additionally, you may click through and view the post should you wish.
  • Reporting a post or List does not automatically result in the account being suspended.
  • Reported messages and conversations will disappear from your inbox and cannot be recovered.

Why do I see a “suspicious content” warning in my Direct Messages?

X will hide messages that might be suspicious or contain suspicious URLs (e.g. spam-related). You can let us know if the message is OK or if it is spam:

  1. Tap the “suspicious content” warning to view the Message.
  2. If the message looks like spam, tap This is Spam to report it.
  3. If the message is not suspicious, tap Message OK to keep it in your inbox.

What’s the difference between reporting an account and reporting a post or List?

Reporting a post or List allows you to indicate what specific post or List you think is in violation of the X Rules or Terms of Service. If the account is violating X policies without posting a post, List, or Direct Message (for example, mass following large numbers of accounts), then you should report the account as spam.
