How to Follow Others

You can follow people on Twitter in any of these ways:

  • On the web
  • Via SMS/text message
  • On the mobile website (mobile.twitter.com)
  • Via a third-party application

How to Follow on the Web:

Click the "Follow" button when you see it next to a user's profile photo, on a user's profile page, or in any of the Who to follow suggestions.

Helpful hints:

  • Users with protected Tweets will have to approve your follow request before you'll be able to see their Tweets.
  • Import your contacts from your address book to find friends already using Twitter, or invite friends who aren't on Twitter yet!

How to Follow via SMS/Text Message:

Send a text with the words "Follow username" in an SMS (text message) to Twitter to start following someone from your mobile phone.

For example, text 'Follow jymminie' to your Twitter short or long code:

How to Follow on Mobile Web (mobile.twitter.com):

If you have a mobile web browser:

  1. Go to http://mobile.twitter.com
  2. Then, navigate to a user's profile and click the 'Follow' button, just as you would on the regular website.

In the example below, we navigated to mobile.twitter.com/kiva to follow @Kiva.

 

How to Follow via a Third Party Application:

You can follow Twitter accounts from any third party application that supports following.

In the example below, we use Twitter for iPhone to follow @Ajuda:
